10 Sec Reading

A fervent Buddhist lady made every effort to love others. But every time she went to the market, a merchant made indecent proposals to her.

One rainy morning, when the man bothered her once again, she lost control and hit him on the face with her umbrella.

That same afternoon, she sought out a monk and told him what had happened.

“I am ashamed,” she said. “I couldn’t control my hate.”

“You did wrong to hate him,” answered the monk. ” But life is about communicating our feelings to each other – and you need to understand that people are different”.

"The next time he says something, fill your heart with goodness.

“And hit him again with your umbrella, because that’s the only language he knows.”

Reminder

I think there is a constant need to remind myself of good thoughts. Our mind doesn’t have its own intelligence or its own control. We have to have control of it.

In Bhagwat Geeta Shri Krishna said “Just do your work and don’t think about its result”. Every Indian or probably every human being on this planet must be knowing this in one form or another. When we think about the result of the work we are doing, some of the concentration of the brain is diverted in the result which leads less than 100% involvement of brain and desire into the work and we can’t see the miracle of giving 100%. Another aspect is when we think about the result, unconsciously we have set our mind on how the outcome should look and if we don’t get it, it gives unhappiness. While if we do the opposite, i.e. Don’t think about the result, any outcome of our work will surprise us and make us happy. Result is not in our hand until we get it anyway. And if it is not in our hand, then thinking about it will not change it. Doing something about it might change it. And that doing is - giving your 100%.

I need to remind myself of these thoughts because sometimes expectation creeps my mind and it leads to unhappiness and also it prevents me from giving 100% to whatever work I involve myself into.

Have a Productive Day.
